Umm Al Quwain

This name comes from Umm Al Quwatain, which means ‘mother of 2 powers’, possibly because this has been a land of sea-farers. It lies between Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah and runs across 800 sq km of beautiful stretches of sand dunes and coastal mangroves towards the lush oasis near Falaj Al Moalla. Traditionally these people have been in to date cultivation and fishing. It is ruled by HH Sheikh Saoud Bin Rashid Al Mu’alla under whose leadership the Emirate has progressed in leaps and bounds. This state is marked by an enclosed lagoon, seaport, the Research and Pisciculture Centre and it has many companies, banks, establishments and commercial markets.
